liaising with design engineers from the beginning of the design process to unsure suitable DFT practices are undertaken to ensure all suitable test points can be accessed, and to understand any key test areas. Design of test interfaces. This would include manufacturing test fixtures such as bed of nails testers, then designing an interface PCB to undertake all the tests required. Creating schematic diagram and generating a PCB layout for the Test interface circuity. I am currently doing this in Altium designer. The PCBs being designed are multilayer boards and having to take into consideration items such as creepage and clearances for high voltages and currents. All parts are sourced for the specific requirement of the pcb undertest and the BOMs generated. Programming of the production and R&D test systems. I am doing this using either ‘Python’ or 'Labview' to program and interface a variety of test measurement and control equipment, determine pass/fail criteria, display graphs etc. Currently developing a high voltage testing lab to be able to safely test a variety of new high voltage products. This involves manufacturing an high voltage enclosure, designing high voltage discharge systems and programming the safety systems safety systems. Management of projects from concept to production, managing costing, chairing and organising meetings as require and driving team members to meet the deadlines as required.

  • Test Engineer at Microchip Technology Inc.
    Oct 2021 - Feb 2023 · 1 yr 5 mos

  • AfterSales Service Engineer at Nuaire Ventilation
    Mar 2020 - Sep 2020 · 7 mos

My general duties include: • Conducting site visits for Nuaire product ranges across the UK on customer premises or project sites to investigate product operation and replace electrical and mechanical components. • Providing office based technical support to customers, service engineers or internal staff in the resolution of product related technical enquiries when not on site. • Arranging and delivering technical training on Nuaire products and their application in a site or classroom environment including NICEIC and BPEC domestic competent person schemes. • Checking unit assembly, product operation and function prior to or during commissioning. • Making accurate diagnoses of technical faults and manage outcomes through to resolution. • Providing accurate and detailed site reports with sufficient evidence to ensure site visits are closed out to a high standard. • Providing guidance on any rectification works to the satisfaction of the end user. • Raising quality issues to the business via corrective action systems.

  • RWE Generation UK plc (Full-time · 7 yrs 7 mos)
    • Maintenance Engineer
      Jan 2018 - Mar 2020 · 2 yrs 3 mos

My general duties include: • Co-ordinating and liaising with contractors and other departments to install and commission equipment. I am also responsible for completing the wiring diagrams for these new parts of equipment, commissioning, fault finding, generating spares lists, showing others how they work and what they do and then distributing this information to other members of the department. • First line fault finding and emergency breakdowns on systems - Emergency breakdowns have been one of the major factors in improving me as a competent craftsman in my career. We repair jobs in a very tight time frame due to the high commercial impact that will cost the business >£100k per trip due to lost revenue. I am also responsible for all of the fault finding on the conveyor system choosing the most appropriate solution. • Day-to-day preventative maintenance planning - I set up the preventative maintenance system (which wasn’t previously in place) and implemented it across all the maintenance disciplines. I am also responsible for ensuring the correct equipment and materials are available to carry out the jobs required and that the various pieces of plant can be released for maintenance. • Contract management - I am responsible for several contracts including mechanical maintenance (in particular the conveyor systems), mobile plant, and grounds maintenance. This includes engaging with procurement to set up a contract, writing contract specifications, tendering a contract, holding contract meetings, review contract tenders and contract initiation forms. I also managed budgets of >£500k and ensure there is no overspend.

    • Instrumentation and Control Technician
      Sep 2016 - Dec 2017 · 1 yr 4 mos

My general duties included: • Calibration of instruments - It is my department’s responsibility to repair and maintain a wide range of instrumentation that is required to monitor and control the power station. We ensure most of our work is preventative maintenance using highly sophisticated equipment like Beamex MC5s to inspect and monitor equipment. We also have a database (CMX) where all of our calibrations are logged and recorded. I am competent in calibrating all types of instrumentation such as flow meters pressure (diff and standard transmitters), temperature (thermocouples and RTDs), carbon in ash monitoring (Promecon), pH monitoring, conductivity monitoring, and gas monitoring equipment (SICK and Procal). I also carry out maintenance and calibration of turbine expansion, vibration and eccentricity using Bentley Nevada measuring equipment. • First line fault finding and emergency breakdowns on systems - Most faults have a commercial effect on the station, so I am used to working in a high pressure fast paced environment. • Day-to-day preventative maintenance - This involves prioritising the jobs that are most important and liaising with our operations department to understand when the equipment can be realised. • Maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems - This includes set-up, calibration commissioning and fault finding. I also have done work with hydraulic RAMs, with fault finding and servicing. • PLCs, APMS and APACs systems - I have experience working on APMS (advanced plant management system) and using it to fault find and make adjustments when required. I also have experience working with Allen Bradley PLCs during day-to-day work and from various in-house courses.

    • Instrumentation and Control Apprentice
      Sep 2012 - Aug 2016 · 4 yrs

      • I completed a four-year apprenticeship programme with RWE UK Generation at Aberthaw Power Station. This apprenticeship included an NVQ Level 3 in control and instruments and an HNC in electrical and electronic engineering. As part of it, I carried out various technical courses and undertook various placements in different departments across site to gain knowledge of how each department works.
