• Lead installation, commissioning, operation, and data analysis for demonstration of field grid-scale EnergyPod battery units located in California, Washington, Kapchagay Kazakhstan, and Beijing China. • Work with customers to ensure testing and performance meet their needs.
● Lead validation team in evaluating zinc bromide flow battery performance, both stack-level and interactions with balance of plant, to enhance the power/energy density, efficiency and battery life. ● Write, communicate, and execute test plans utilizing statistical design of experiments (DOE) to increase high-power efficiency by 10% and minimize surface preparation time by a factor of 100. ● Utilize TDMS Viewer, Python, and Excel to perform root cause analyses on operational issues with cross-functional team to strategically implement corrective actions. Write basic python code for data analysis. ● Regularly present test analysis and battery performance to VP level management to implement key learnings and discoveries in future design and operations. ● Develop SOP’s to ensure safe and effective testing of batteries, ranging from operating in-house developed software to stack teardowns. ● Troubleshoot and resolve battery issues with software, sensors, pumps, inverters, and chemistry both in Validation Lab and at installed locations. ● Implement procedural fixes to incidents and near-miss reports. Trained in HAZWOPER hazardous response protocol.
- Lead small team to commission small pilot plant, trouble-shoot operational issues, and develop operating procedures to demonstrate new technology safely and reliably. - Develop process flow diagrams, unit operations, and economic evaluations for alternative technologies. - Create and maintain spread-sheet based tool allowing operators and engineers to easily input design specifications for daily operations. - Analyze data to determine conversion, reaction rate, and heat transfer coefficients. - Maintain P&IDs and utilize Process Change Request procedure for necessary modifications to small pilot plant. - Communicate findings in technical reports.
- Utilized advanced engineering tools including Aspen Plus and Arena Modeling to simulate unit operations and compare their potential cost impact. - Collaborated with operators, manufacturing engineers, and discipline engineers to assure finished product met customers’ needs on projects ranging from small supply chain to large capital. - Helped maintain safe working environment by participating in HAZOPs and other environment, health, and safety reviews.
