Promoted to Client Manager, leading corporation tax compliance for a number of mid-sized clients, overseeing junior team members, and advising on key technical areas: • Managing the full annual review process for corporation tax returns across a portfolio of mid-sized clients, including budget planning, client liaison, dealing with technical queries, deadline management, review of work by junior staff, monitoring efficiencies and billing. • Reviewing additional reporting obligations for clients such as CT600B and CT600H supplementary pages and the corporate interest restriction. • Actively identifying tax-planning opportunities for corporate clients alongside annual compliance work, such as group relief, loss relief, capital allowance claims and providing guidance on the relevant commercial and technical considerations. • Undertaking complex capital allowances reviews for larger scale capital projects, advising clients on tax relief implications both in the planning stage and after completion of works. • Conducting business valuations and forecasts to support company sales, Enterprise Management Incentives (EMI) scheme set-ups, and relevant HMRC notifications. • Managing the planning, review, delivery and billing of quarterly and annual compliance projects, including Quarterly Instalment Payments (QIPs), Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings (ATED) returns and Employment Related Securities (ERS) returns. • Providing routine corporation tax services such as requests for certificates of residency and returns of Income Tax on company payments (CT61s). • Routinely undertaking prospect client calls and meetings for the firm to bring in new business, as well as attending networking events on behalf of the firm. • Continue to manage a small legacy portfolio of private clients, maintaining long-standing relationships established in earlier roles.
After completing my ACCA qualification, I took on increased responsibility for corporate tax compliance work and client relationships: • Carrying out detailed annual reviews and preparation of corporation tax returns for a variety of audit and other corporate clients, ensuring filings are compliant and accurate. • Continued preparation of partnership and personal tax returns, gaining increased exposure to complex areas such as share schemes from both a corporate and private client angle. • Preparation of QIPs calculations, as well as annual ATED and ERS returns. • Advising clients on the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS), including the preparation of advanced assurance applications, compliance statements, and assisting clients with the delivery of compliance certificates to their investors.
