Was it DESTINY to come into mining recruitment via sales, hospitality management, and sports and current affairs journalism at The Week? Probably not. But that background shaped much of how I work today: commercial urgency, clear writing, proper research, attention to detail, and a fairly low tolerance for vague process. I joined AER International in January 2023 and was promoted to Recruitment Manager just over two years later. Today, I run senior, technical and executive search across the global mining sector, working with mine operators, EPCM groups, investors and project developers. Alongside search delivery, I have also designed and rebuilt much of AER’s recruitment infrastructure, including CRM architecture, sourcing methodology, candidate pipelines, workflow structure as well as internal training. Promoted to Recruitment Manager just over two years after joining AER International, having built a desk from scratch and played a central role in the firm’s post-COVID commercial rebuild. I deliver international search mandates across the mining sector, supporting operators, EPCM groups, investors and project developers across Africa, Southeast Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East. My work spans executive, senior technical and operational appointments, including CEO and CFO mandates for international mining businesses, with placed packages above USD 500,000 total remuneration. Typical mandates include General Management, Supply Chain, Processing, Engineering, HSE, Construction and Project leadership roles, often in remote, complex or hard-to-staff environments. I work directly with CEOs, CFOs, Mine General Managers, HR Directors and project leaders on confidential, business-critical hires. Alongside search delivery, I designed and rebuilt AER’s recruitment infrastructure, including CRM architecture, candidate pipelines, sourcing methodology, search delivery process, commercial governance, workflow structure and internal operating standards. I built and lead AER Academy, the firm’s training and development platform, mentoring consultants across sourcing, qualification, business development, market mapping, account management and delivery discipline. I introduced tailored AI and automation across research, outreach and workflow using tools including Apollo, Clay, AI Studio, SendGrid, ChatGPT and Zapier, scaling desk productivity without losing the direct, personal contact required for senior mining recruitment. I built AER’s marketing strategy and external presence across adverts, marketing collateral, LinkedIn strategy and brand positioning, supporting business development across international markets. Commercially, I negotiate terms across exclusivity, retained search, milestone payments and international fee arrangements.
