I worked as a property manager assistant, working closely with tenants ensuring smooth tenancy changes and repairs. I also acted as a maintenance man for basic issues. I was given significant responsibilities with high standards. I gained significant people skills working with tenants, and the ability to solve difficult problems and disputes between the tenants and the landlords. Significant responsibilities meant that my organisational skills and time management had to be professional.
I spent time with department leaders in different areas, such as Sales, Marketing and Product Creation. I was introduced to Bloomberg operating system, and was particularly interested in product creation in the wealth management sector, and the investment team. I enjoyed the perpetual activity of the London workplace and I worked successfully under considerable time constraints and pressure in order to meet my targets. This experience gave me a real insight into the finance sector reinforcing my view that this is the career for me.
During my time there I went to company meetings with companies such as G4S, and spent time with the branch manager viewing possible investment portfolios on a one-on-one basis. Having spent time with the branch manager, I gained valuable experience on how wealth management firms work. This pressurized environment is one in which I think I could thrive.
