In 2021, I became a worker-owner at A Bookkeeping Cooperative. Being part of a worker-owned cooperative that is values-aligned and finance focused is such a dream! In 2012, I founded Open Bookkeeping to provide personal and affordable bookkeeping and financial management services to justice-based businesses and organizations. Open Bookkeeping seeks to promote resilient communities by focusing on a strong & diverse local economy. I bring over 10 years of social justice organizing into my bookkeeping work, as well as my continued interest and involvement in racial & economic justice movements through grassroots organizing, workshop facilitation and non-profit financial support. Additionally, I bring over five years of working with small organic farms with me. Rooted in my love for the outdoors, food & building community, farming will always remain an important piece of my life. I am currently pursuing a Sustainable MBA degree at Marlboro Graduate School, where I am able to bring all three passions together: finance, social justice & farming. My long-term goal is to help small businesses transition to worker-owned cooperatives, vertically integrated businesses, and create cross-industry collaborative relationships. Open Bookkeeping works to build strong, innovative businesses as a backbone to creating sustainable local community. Bringing together experiences in community organizing, farming and finance, Open Bookkeeping bridges the gap between local economic vitality, ecological sustainability and social justice. OBK envisions local community that works to change systemic oppression inherent in today's models of business as usual. By strengthening locally-owned businesses and supporting the emergence of non-traditional business structures, such as Community-Supported Businesses and Worker-Cooperatives, that are infused with social justice values, OBK seeks to shift the focus and goal of business to incorporate the various needs of owners, workers, community members and the environment in ways that do away with competing needs and foster mutual aid and healthy communities.
Worked with existing queer and social justice organizations in Southeastern VT to promote and fundraise events featuring queer artists, performers, musicians and writers.
Assisted in all aspects of a 95 member Community Supported Agriculture farm, including planting, cultivation and harvesting of a diverse range of vegetables, and care for a small herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats.
