I have been given extra responsibility as the lead for Music in the school. • Primary School Teacher
      Jan 2022 - Present · 4 yrs 7 mos

During my time as a teaching assistant (TA) management staff noticed my potential and I was given the opportunity to replace a teacher who had left the school, I quickly built a great relationship with the children and impressed staff members in my department. I hold high expectations for the children in my care and encouraged them to engage more in their learning. I transitioned from TA to teacher well, after taking over as teacher the disruptive behaviour in the class reduced significantly due to my excellent behaviour management. Additionally, I have gained significant teamwork and leadership skills through working as a great team with the TAs in my classes. Due to my brilliant communication skills, I have been able to help the children trust me and feel safe being in a classroom environment. I have worked well with the staff in my department by understanding my colleagues’ roles with specific expertise and I have been able to draw on the expertise of fellow colleagues. I regularly call parents to inform them about how their child’s day was and sometimes have difficult conversations, finding ways to resolve issues.

    • Teaching Assistant

I help with the general supervision and management of students. By working under the direction of the classroom teacher I am expected to assist with the implementation of instructional plans. I ensure to help promote students educational, social and emotional development. By working with challenging pupils I need to make sure I am caring, patient and understanding. I make sure I am attentive to the unique needs of each student and am able to identify proper solutions when students encounter issues. Throughout my role I have shown that I have strong interpersonal skills and am able to collaborate with other teachers, working with students and talking to families. I have been team teach trained so I understand how to deescalate children who are going through crisis and I also know how to report these experiences on CPOMS. I have also shown a commitment to building brighter futures and have enjoyed all the experiences I have gained in the job so far. Furthermore I have been given extra responsibility of supervising a number of children on the transport too and from school.
