Currently Senior Director - Scientific Operations at Olon Ricerca Bioscience. In this role I will oversight the activities of the scientific departments (analytical, synthetic and process chemistry, process development and manufacturing) contributing to technical development, organization and planning of activities as well as providing strategies for continuous improvement. I previously occupied the position of Head of Process Safety and reaction scale-up laboratory at OLON SpA. The group aims at bridging the gap between process R&D and plant production. Scale-up experiments are supported by the use of process simulation tools (Dynochem, CFD MixIt) and PAT's in order to achieve right-first-time transition to plant scale. Prior I was Research Scientist at Labochim (Infagroup) working on development of chemical processes for API and complex synthetic intermediates as Project Leader. At the LPF (Zurich) I had worked in process R&D involved in route scouting for new APIs and impurities identification and synthesis. As Swiss National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellow I worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Boston, USA) in the group of Prof. Tim Jamison. The research focused on the development of methods for the synthesis of marine natural products. Specialties: Organic synthesis of complex molecular architectures. Synthetic planning and execution, route scouting and project management for the scale-up to full scale manufacturing of API and complex intermediates. Reaction and adiabatic calorimetry. Oversight of the analytical, synthetic and process chemistry, process development and manufacturing
Currently I am Head of Process Safety Laboratory at OLON SpA. The activities primarily support the R&D process development team and aim at delivering the most suitable conditions for the process transfer prior to full production scale. Interactions with various functions within the company (EHS, technology transfer, engineering...) are part of the daily job duties. Previously, I have been responsible for scale-up of chemical processes from lab scale to full industrial scale as Project Leader. In the field of custom synthesis I was involved in the development of the process from lab experiment to the interface with client via reporting and conference call activities.
