Allie graduated magna cum laude from Washington and Lee University, where she double majored in Sociology and Environmental Studies with a minor in Poverty & Human Capability Studies. With skills in research, data analysis, and community building, Allie's interests at the intersection of global health, food systems, and human rights have prompted questions and curiosities surrounding climate action and sustainable development as pathways for collective resilience and wellbeing. She currently supports research, strategy, grantmaking, and program operations for philanthropic climate initiatives at CEA Consulting. Allie also brings expertise in the sub-Saharan Africa region, primarily East Africa. She was a Boren Scholar to Arusha, Tanzania, through the African Flagship Language Initiative and is proficient in Kiswahili. She was also a recipient of the Davis Projects for Peace Grant, an SIT Alice Swanson Rowan Award fellow, and a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant and regional mentor in Kampala, Uganda.
Awarded $5,000 Alice Swanson Rowan Fellowship to fund a grassroots project in collaboration with Thriving Youth Farmers of Uganda. Constructed three fish ponds and an operational aquaculture training site and stocked ponds with catfish and tilapia fingerlings, which will grow into a nutritious food source and social enterprise opportunity for 6 youth farmers in the Masulita Village community. Organized and facilitated trainings on fish farming, nutrition education, and climate resilience in agriculture for 45 community members.
Mentorship: * Mentored 9 Fulbright ETAs across 3 sub-Saharan Africa countries and created progress reports and evaluated programs * Coordinated week-long Fulbright Enrichment Seminar for 40 ETAs and Pre-Departure Orientation training * Liaised between US embassies, State Department, and Fulbright administration to advance soft diplomacy and bilateral education strategy: organized a Project-Based Learning teacher training and hosted US Ambassador for school's Leadership and Careers Day * Reviewed applications and interviewed candidates to support EducationUSA’s exchange programs, such as Mandela Washington Fellowship and Pan-African Youth Leadership Program Teaching: * Developed creative, culturally relevant English lessons and taught secondary school and university students * Facilitated professional development workshops and presented on leadership and mental health at American Center in Kampala * Co-founded Young Africans Talent Center, a refugee-centered English language learning institute, and taught 25 students * Advised UN Club, Writers Club, and Debate Club for additional language training opportunities * Reviewed applications for university and scholarship opportunities, and led writing workshops to advise on application essay writing
Awarded $10,000 Projects for Peace Grant to design and implement grassroots project. Designed "Lishe Learners and Leaders" project in Arusha, Tanzania, in collaboration with Widows Encouragement and HIV/AIDS Foundation. - Developed five community and school vegetable gardens in under-resourced communities of Arusha. - Managed budget and supplies acquisition, facilitated groundbreaking of each site, and oversaw the maintenance of the gardens from seeds to harvest - Organized and implemented project logistics and operations - Coordinated volunteers and community partners to assist with manual labor, deliveries, and continuous follow-up on each garden - Interpreted between Swahili and English language, bridging language barrier between volunteers and interactions with the women, children, and community partners
