Manager of data communications efforts, focused on creating and publishing web-native dashboards and other data visualization tools aimed at providing market intelligence to leaders of U.S. metropolitan areas. Responsible for gathering requirements, designing, and developing all data communication tools. Tools and technologies used include Adobe Illustrator, R, Python, and JavaScript (including the Angular.js, D3.js, and Highcharts.js libraries). [This position was titled Senior Research Analyst & Associate Fellow from January 2013 to January 2014.]
Performed statistical analyses including regression, classification, and clustering to describe trends and patterns in metropolitan area economies. Gathered requirements, managed, and developed web-based data visualization tools to convey the core messages and metrics of our research products. Communicated research findings to reporters (generally print and radio). Harmonized and published data from a wide variety of sources for use by researchers across the institution.
Performed data analyses and authored reports on metropolitan area economies. Areas of focus included macro level economic performance during the 2007-09 recession, income inequality, and the nature of industrial restructuring and the effectiveness of the policy responses meant to address it.
