I have spent the last twelve years pursuing post-graduate studies and working throughout Europe, including France, Spain, and Germany, enhancing my expertise in software and hardware development for autonomous systems. Before moving to Europe, my career spanned various industries, from oil & gas to industrial robotics and automation, gathering experience in mechanical and electronic design, CNC manufacturing processes, rapid prototyping, and systems integration. My tenure includes being part of the teams responsible for developing the LiDAR-based object tracking that enabled Honda to launch the first Level 3 certified self-driving car in Japan (March 2021) and contributing to Daimler's advancements towards achieving certified Level 3 automation worldwide (December 2021).
Led the development and integration of the company's autonomous navigation stack, using diverse sensor technologies (cameras, LiDAR, radio) for enhanced navigation in mobile robots (terrestrial and aerial) and managed software repositories. Directed and participated in the mechanical and electrical development of heavy-duty autonomous mobile robot (AMR) projects, aiming for innovative and cohesive designs. Developed detailed training programs and led an international team of ten engineers (located in Ireland, Germany, and Mexico). Enhanced R&D strategies, optimized budgets, and actively engaged in supplier and customer relations, striving for project success and partnership value.
SCALA LiDAR Gen1 Sensor Fusion & Object Tracking for ADAS (Function Owner) Led multiple-sensor object tracking requirement elicitation and function development, enabling the system to achieve Level 3 autonomy. This involved comprehensive oversight of system integration and troubleshooting, including sensor physics and subsystems and end-use cases, as well as close collaboration with system and software architects, functional safety experts, developers, and the end customer to ensure robust object detection and tracking capabilities. High-Speed Odometry/Ego-Motion for SCALA LiDAR Gen2 (Function Owner) Led ego-motion requirement elicitation, function development, and test results analysis, which were crucial for accurate vehicle motion analysis, thereby improving the precision of autonomous navigation capabilities. This role required orchestrating sensor data and vehicle dynamics to estimate the driving vehicle state and enhance object tracking accuracy.
Project MD500 This project involved developing an underwater geotechnical drilling rig, focusing on control software for hydraulic robot manipulators and the rig itself. This included path generation and kinematic control for a 5-DOF robot, fuzzy closed-loop position control for actuators, a custom CANbus-based communications protocol, PCB design for cameras control, the development of custom SCADA software and supervision of the general assembly process.
