As the Global Marketing & Sales Director, I am responsible for overseeing the entire business strategy and client development of UWC HK. My role involves coordinating sales and revenue planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes within the sales organization. I am also responsible for maintaining current customer relationships and forging new strategic customer relationships to drive business growth. I was responsible for overseeing the comprehensive business strategy and client development of Qingdao YanLin Underwater Contractors. This involved: • Initiating and completing the establishment of the company in Qingdao, China • Managing a total investment of 2.5 million USD. • Overseeing general turnover and profitability. • Managing all aspects of equipment, staff, recruitment, and training. • Supervising a team of 17 employees, (5 office staff, 8 divers, and 4 ship crew members). • Developing and expanding the underwater inspection, maintenance and repair business. • Operating in all major coastal ports of China. • Ensuring safe and professional diving operations with zero incidents. • Keeping the company compliant with international and national diving regulations. • Hiring specialist subcontractors. • Overseeing the construction of our own 20m diving support vessel from contract signing to delivery. My responsibilities included: - Providing guidance to the R&D teams on Next Generation Coating Developments. - Advising Risk Management, Product Management, and Key Account Management. - Planning and conducting ship underwater inspections worldwide. - Troubleshooting issues with AF & FR Coating Systems globally, both underwater and in dry-dock. - Coordinating and overseeing underwater surveys and hull cleanings with diving companies worldwide. - Leading on-site underwater testing of new cleaning tools with top diving companies globally. - Conducting research on the impact of skin friction drag on ship hulls with various coating developments. - Collaborating with students and professionals from prestigious universities and institutes like Hogeschool Delft & MARIN to discuss developed measuring methods and results. Some of my notable achievements include: - Inventing, designing, and developing new types of nylon brushes that are now utilized worldwide by diving companies for hull cleaning on anti-fouling & fouling release coated vessels. - Creating a towing tank at the PPG R&D facility in Amsterdam to measure skin friction drag of new and existing marine coating developments.
In my position as the Country Technical Service Manager for Marine Coatings in, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau at PPG/Sigma Protective & Marine Coating China, I had a wide range of responsibilities: - Leading a team of 72 employees, including 2 office assistants, 3 assistant managers, and 67 Technical Service Engineers (TSE). - Overseeing the recruitment process for new staff members. - Ensuring strict adherence to Company Guidelines and Procedures. - Monitoring and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. - Strategically scheduling and deploying TSE to maximize efficiency and minimize costs. - Managing the Technical Service Department within budget constraints. - Handling all contractual specifications and operational procedures. - Organizing and delegating tasks to the TSE Team. - Providing comprehensive training and certification (NACE & FROSIO) for the TSE. - Monitoring and evaluating the performance of TSE on-site, implementing corrective measures as necessary. - Collaborating with the Sales & Marketing Departments to achieve record sales. - Keeping the Company informed of new developments, products, and procedures. - Strengthening the HSEQ (Health/Safety/Environment/Quality) policy for TSE-related activities.
