I am currently the Digital Campaigner at Sortition Foundation, campaigning to replace the House of Lords with a House of Citizens and create a Greater Manchester citizens' assembly both selected a bit like a jury. I am also a local councillor and leader of the Green Group on the Hackney council. Previously I was Head of Content at Animals Asia, working to end bear bile farming, improve cat and dog welfare as well as captive animal welfare. I have also worked as a freelance filmmaker, events producer and youth worker. As a youth media workshop facilitator and programme coordinator I have worked on several large scale youth media projects. I've worked in schools, community events and Pupil Referral Units in East London. I was the coordinator and workshop facilitator for Into Film funded and Picturehouse Education project Fresh Docs that got 15-19 year olds making documentary films. I was the coordinator of the 12 cinema London-Wide Film London project Cinemania which engages under 24s in a broad range of cinema culture. As a filmmaker I have worked with various independent production companies in various roles, including; director, unit manager, runner, actor and animator. I am a core team member at Tea Fuelled, an arts collective producing work based on new writing. I have also worked on various short films and music videos. I was the events coordinator at the Hackney Attic at the Hackney Picturehouse, a venue that I helped to launch and run. The coordinator role was holistic, and involved planning, programming, marketing, social media and on-the-day live-event management. I have a broad range of film and media experience, having worked as Marketing Assistant at the BFI, working closely with the Director of Communications and gaining experience in marketing, digital marketing, press, print design, research and events. I have been involved with the marketing of 4 BFI London Film Festivals and coordinated the marketing for the BFI's presence at The Big Chill and the 2011 Cannes Film festival. I have also worked with BBC Films in coordinating their press event at Cannes Film Festival 2008. I also helped found and run the Autumn Shift arts/events collectiveoverseeing marketing and cinema elements as well as festival and artist liaison and crew coordination. Our up-cycled festival tent was geared towards ideas of interactivity and sustainability. At Autumn Shift I do a bit of everything, from programming and promoting monthly mixed-arts events in London to coordinating the build, programming and stage management of a bespoke summer music festival tent. I programme the the Tilt-Shift cinema which shows shorts, documentaries, animations, music videos and specially commissioned live-scores including The Adventures of Prince Achmed which has been performed at The Secrect Garden Party, The Hackney Picturehouse and The Onetaste Festival.
