Premialab is a leading Market Data Provider specializing in systematic, factor, and multi-asset strategies, serveing institutional clients such as pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and asset managers. As a Data Scientist at Premialab, my responsibilities include: • Leading the development of a calculation engine and coordinating with colleagues from other divisions to deliver features based on business requirements. • Building and maintaining various machine learning models, developer tools, and data pipelines. • Identifying inefficiencies in existing data processes and making significant improvements that lead to a better client experience. • Providing training sessions and creating concise training documentation on the risk data and modeling process.
The HKUST fintech research project was led by the Dean of the Business School, Professor Tam Kar Yan. My responsibilities included: • Creating and testing an NLP pipeline with LLMs such as BERT and Pegasus. • Prototyping machine learning models in a multi-GPU environment using CUDA on Nvidia DGX. • Managing data with SQLite in Python and connecting to SQL databases. • Developing explainable machine learning models using PyTorch. • Leading the data analysis process for an industrial report, employing techniques such as hierarchical clustering and factor analysis on survey results.
As a member of the Counterparty and Market Risk team, my primary responsibilities included: • Conducting quantitative and qualitative market research for an organization-wide audience; and • Developing data pipelines and risk metrics dashboards for presentations to senior members, including the Regional CRO.
In my role with the Big Data and Analytics team, my focus was: • Prototyping of a product recommendation system for the Firm's newly launched E-commerce platform, involving exploration of various data analysis methods from visual analytics to machine learning approaches. • Developing Python GUI applications to enable efficient filtering and searching through large data sets, utilizing SQL database management and tripling data processing efficiency. • Participating in Microsoft Azure and PowerApp training sessions, along with a Tableau Bootcamp, gaining hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Azure Machine Learning Studio.
