Group lead providing global discipline leadership in operational excellence and risk management for the D&B function across surface and underground operations. Identifying, motivating and developing implementation strategies for innovative solutions that support the delivery of safety and productivity targets.
Directly responsible for managing the D&B function compliant to Australian Standards for handling, storage and use of explosives. Managed a workforce consisting of 60 full time technical and operational employees and 50 ‘total loading service’ contractor employees with a strong focus on professional development and training aligned to Laos localisation and gender diversity objectives.
Managed a team of engineers providing operational support to the production team. Directly responsible for the preparation of medium term mine schedules, interim pit shell design, annual budgeting process and oversight of short-term planning process ensuring production targets were achieved in line with budgeted and Life-of-Mine objectives. Deputised for the Technical Services Superintendent on off-rosters and provided mining engineering project support as required.
Practical mining related R&D and consulting roles with a strong focus on onsite implementation, technology transfer and staff upskilling. Key research focus areas included blast displacement measurement & modelling (2D/3D), selective blasting techniques and next generation mine to mill optimisation. Consulting focuses on D&B optimisation and blast outcome quantification. Main clients included: Anglo Platinum, Rio Tinto, Newmont, Newcrest.
