I am a graduate of Maynooth University with an MSc in Immunology and Global Health and a BSc in Biomedical Sciences. My studies equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of immunological principles and their practical applications. My academic journey was enriched by a range of subjects, including advanced immunology, statistics, epidemiology, microbiology, science communication and bioinformatics. I began working for ICON plc in January 2025 as a Clinical Sample Processor. This role exposed me to a face-paced laboratory environment where I processed clinical trial subject samples from shipment receipt through to testing. I trained on sample storage, issue management and data management. In 2026 I received a promotion to my current role, Infectious Diseases Lab Assistant. In this role I am becoming more exposed to sample testing, particularly PCR and protein analysis.
In my role as a waitress and barista, I delivered exceptional customer service in a fast-paced hospitality environment. With a keen attention to detail and a friendly demeanour, I took orders, served food and beverages, and ensured a memorable dining experience for customers. Additionally, I excelled in crafting and serving high-quality coffee. Through effective communication, multitasking and collaborative teamwork I helped maintain a clean and organised workspace and provide a welcoming atmosphere exceeding customer expectations, contributing to the success of the establishment.
I worked in a cell engineering lab as part of my master’s programme. I learnt, improved and perfected techniques such as cell culturing and subculturing. I also gained experience performing flow cytometry and working with Crisper Cas9 RNPs. The work I carried out in the lab contributed to my thesis titled 'Non-viral genetic engineering with Crisper Cas9 RNPs for the manufacture of hypoimmunogenic MSCs'.
As a student ambassador for Maynooth University, I played a pivotal role in representing the university and engaging with prospective students, parents, and the wider community. I participated in open events, campus tours, and outreach initiatives, providing insights into university life, academic programs, and campus resources. Specifically, I worked at events like science night, I spoke to secondary school student groups about my own experience in university and I represented the university at open events. Committed to promoting inclusivity and excellence in higher education, I am proud to have contributed to the vibrant and welcoming community at Maynooth University.
Working in Londis has been an invaluable experience that has allowed me to develop and strengthen my customer service, communication, sales and organisational skills. I have gained expertise in handling transactions efficiently, engaging with customers, inventory management, ensuring that stocks are maintained and displaying products attractively. The dynamic work environment has taught me the importance of teamwork, flexibility and time management and has allowed me to thrive in a fast-paced setting while also delivering exceptional service.
