The cost of domestic violence in the UK is estimated at £23 billion. 750,000 children in the UK are affected by domestic violence. In the UK domestic violence currently affects 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men in their lifetimes. The Global Foundation for the Elimination of Domestic Violence was set up by Baroness Patricia Scotland to take the policies she used to tackle this problem whilst in government to a global audience. The Foundation commissions multi-country research and advises governments on policy development and implementation.
