About

I am a GP with postgraduate qualifications in Psychological Trauma and EMDR, and a board member of UKPTS. In 2022, I was awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree at Cardiff University, which explored the relationship between PTSD and Medically Unexplained Physical Symptoms (MUPS) in health and social care. I led the development of a Psychological Trauma service in a GP practice, which became a Bevan Commission Exemplar initiative. The benefits of a GP-Practice based trauma service was a combined generalist medical and specialised trauma approach to provide integrated care for trauma, mental health problems, MUPS and disease. A GP practice setting allowed for continuity of personalised care for individuals and families across age groups and generations. Also, I integrated a trauma informed approach whilst working as a GP with special interest in a community drug and alcohol service. My trauma and MUPS work has been presented at various national and local conferences and workshops.
