Manages the Biomedical Engineering department and department financial resources needed to support the acquisition, repair and maintenance of diagnostic, therapeutic and life support equipment. Ensures compliance with regulatory codes, standards, and established practices. Serves on the Environment of Care Committee and is responsible for development and review of all policies and procedures pertaining to the Medical Equipment Management Plan.
1-Manages the Medical Equipment Management Program, ensuring compliance with JCAHO standards. 2- Assists with new equipment evaluations and purchases; providing technical input on equipment function, maintenance requirements, and compatibility with existing equipment, systems, and structures. 3- Develops plans for equipment installations or moves; monitors progress and ensures on-time completion within budget. 4- Explores ways to reduce service contracts and vendor costs. 5- Reviews, changes, or develops policies and procedures that enhance equipment safety, availability, or reliability. 6- Ensures equipment testing and maintenance is performed in accordance with regulatory codes and standards. 7- Adheres to department operating budget. Provides monthly updates to the director, with explanations for variances. 8- Monitors work order activity and staff productivity. 9- Identifies and provides resources for staff training to ensure they possess the necessary competencies to complete their jobs. 10- Ensures external service providers have the necessary competencies.
