Developing computational frameworks and solutions in the liquid biopsy & oncology space.
Developing computational solutions for analyzing data of human blood-based analytes - i.e., single-cell fluorescent images, genomics, and proteomics - to dissect the heterogeneity of abnormal plasma cell subpopulations & rare circulating tumor-derived microenvironment subpopulations. I apply these frameworks into characterizing the progression of multiple myeloma from precursor to overt states.
• Co-designed lectures and syllabus content with the professor for a senior undergrad Systems Biology course. • Led weekly 1-hour tutorials focused on practical applications of systems biology, including genome-scale metabolic modeling (GEM), dynamical modeling analysis, and network analysis. • Developed, administered, and graded +100 quizzes and assignments, providing detailed feedback to enhance students’ understanding of key modeling techniques.
As a junior research assistant in the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Core Unit, I contributed to the following three projects: Project 1: Predicting immune checkpoint blockade response using integrative multi-omic data by machine learning and analyzing key genes by network analysis. Project 2: Investigating the tumor immune microenvironment and the prognostic significance of M1 macrophage immune cells on triple-negative breast cancer patients. Project 3 (Internship): Computer-aided medical diagnosis: predicting gene mutations and transcriptomic profiles from histopathology images in triple-negative breast cancer.
I mentored bioinformatics and biotechnology students interested in the field of systems biology under IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (IEEE EMBS). Particularly, I gave 50+ students a one-hour online introductory session on the history and applications of systems biology. I also supervised 10 students' presentations on selected papers in systems biology, teaching them core concepts in bioinformatics pipelines and network analysis, among other soft skills.
