I like to speak to colleagues and operators from all functions, ask questions, gather their views on how things could work better. Co-relate that feedback with the overall business strategy and find opportunities to increase efficiency, sometimes by leveraging technology, sometimes by simplifying the process itself. Asking "Why?" can be uncomfortable. But ask it enough times, it comes full circle and the people you're asking it to, start to - themselves - asking "Why?" and eventually "Why not?". "Why not do it different?" The "How?" is a natural progression of this state of mind and it's where things really start to become interesting and yes, I'm not afraid to say it, fun. This is where and when transformation starts. One more thing I can tell you about me, that is true in my professional and personal life, is that my one driver is to help people. Sometimes to a fault. Sometimes taking on more in the short term if it means that in the long term I will be helping more people that I work with or that I care about (more often than not, these two are not exclusive). Anyone who knows me, knows that helping someone makes my day. I am empathetic, practical, pragmatic, honest, optimistic and loyal. I believe that incremental gains is what compounds giant leaps. I think big, I act small. I believe in mentoring and being mentored. I believe hearing and actually listening are half the job. I love what I do and how I do it.
