Responsible for Engineering of the UAE’s National Rail programme
Construction Director for Package 2B of the Etihad Rail project. Responsible as the Engineer’s representative under FIDIC Contract Conditions for the management of the main contractor and all Construction Supervision services associated with the delivery of Package 2B. Package 2B consists of 352 km of track, 17 underbridges, 23 underpasses, 23 utility bridges, 16 overbridges and 980 utility divisions / protections.
Engineering lead for package 2B of Phase 2 of the Etihad Rail Project. Package 2B consists of approx 32M m3 of earthworks, 120+ bridges, utility relocation, diversion and protection and 220km of double track railway and forms part of the 660km Etihad Rail network which is currently being constructed.
• Responsible for programme management, commercial management, strategy and delivery of all Earth Structure Stabilisation Projects on London Underground • Leading and chairing value engineering, constructability, HSE Risk Workshops and HSE reviews for all Earth Structures Projects • Management of Designers, Project Managers, Construction Managers and Construction Support Managers for the design and implementation of all Earth Structure Projects throughout the project lifecycle to ensure timely and cost effective delivery of projects • Mentoring and development of junior members of staff • Contract Management of specialist contractors carrying out specialist implementation works (NEC suite of contracts) • Liaison, consultation and stakeholder management with project Sponsors, designers, Heads of Profession, maintainers, 3rd parties and other business units within LU • Review and approval of design documents such as Conceptual Design Statements (CDS), TW designs and Detail Design reports • Review and approval of ITT’s and tender returns for specialist packages associated with earth structures stabilisation projects • Monthly reporting to Senior Management on progress, cost, risk and quality inclusive of forecasting spend against budget • Ensuring compliance with CDM with LU carrying out the duties of Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor and review and approval of key HSE documentation
• Project Management of both Bridges and Structures projects and Earth Structure Stabilisation Projects from feasibility through to completion • Lead Project Manager for constructability and value engineering reviews • Liaison, consultation and stakeholder management of 3rd parties and other business units within LU to ensure their interests are protected • Management of Project team members throughout project lifecycle to ensure timely and cost effective delivery of projects • Review and approval of design documents such as Conceptual Design Statements (CDS) and Detail Design reports • Contract Management of contractors (NEC Contracts) carrying out implementation works inclusive of compilation of Invitations to Tender, Works and Site Information, Procurement Strategy, management of tender reviews and approval of award of contract(s) • Production of baseline programmes with lead planner and monitoring project performance against time, cost and quality to ensure compliance with key milestones, KPI’s and technical specifications are achieved • Monthly reporting to Senior Management on progress, cost, risk and quality • Ensuring compliance with CDM, other statutory legislation and review and approval of key HSE documentation such as Construction Phase Plans, RAMS etc.
Project Management of primarily civils and premises works and construction activities which have an interface with London Undergound (LU). Responsible for LU Platform reconstruction programme – construction activities completed on time Interface between the Network Rail (NR) Delivery Team, Contractors Construction Team and the LU Project Team to enable programme progress Coordination between designers, contractors and sub-contractors to resolve critical design and construction queries Review and approval of Work Package Plans, Method Statements, Possession Plans and Possession Programmes for construction activities Possession planning and performing possession management duties for weekend Track Closures – chairing pre-possession meetings and presenting complex engineering activities Advising NR Senior Management on key risks with regards to cost, programme and quality Compilation, review and agreement of assurance documents and strategies to enable Entry into Service of the LU Station in February 2012
