I support the Equality Communications and Engagement Manager and the wider equality, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) team deliver the strategic plan for ED&I with a specific emphasis on engaging with key stakeholders across the University this will include staff networks, students, staff and management. To ensure that clear governance is applied to the work of the ED&I Team and to ensure that all the relevant documents are organised in a logical manner that enables others to navigate them. My main priority is to build and continuously develop strong working relationships with key stakeholder groups such as staff networks, the students' union, University wide ED&I network, faculty and school ED&I. Working with the stakeholders to identify what priority areas they are working on and understand how these are linked to the strategic plan for ED&I.

  • President at Liverpool Guild of Students
    Jun 2019 - Jul 2021 · 2 yrs 2 mos

In March 2019 I was elected, and subsequently re-elected in March 2020, as President of Liverpool Guild of Students, the University of Liverpool's student union - representing the student body and advocating for change. I have worked on tackling racial inequality in Higher Education by contributing to the University of Liverpool's Equality Human Rights Commission report. In addition to this I am involved in many discussions across the University around equality, for example involved with the University’s student success fund – an initiative designed to target specific areas of closing awarding gaps. Responsibilities: - Strategic leader of the Guild, with circa 24,000 members and 300 staff - Chair of the Guild’s Board of Trustees overseeing the governance of the Guild. - A member of the University of Liverpool's Council. - Manage three other elected student representatives. - Monitor my own social media account as well as feeding into the Guild’s social media account. - Sit on a range of University committees. Achievements: - Successfully campaigned against the University of Liverpool’s Senior Leaders into providing rent rebates for students. - Lobbied Arriva buses in providing refunds for student bus passes. - Involved with the University of Liverpool’s decolonizing the curriculum group as well as other committees involved with targeting awarding gaps. - Ran a successful ‘preferendum’ to change a name of a Halls of Residence in order to create a more equal campus - Worked alongside the University in the creation of mitigating policies during the winter lockdown. - Recruited a more diverse board.
