Chartered Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in renewable and low-carbon energy, specialising in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and power generation. My career began with Heatcatcher and GE Energy, where I integrated ORC generators into waste heat to power projects. Over the past 15 years, I’ve managed large-scale renewable energy projects, overseeing EPC contractors, installation, and commissioning. At Larkfleet Group, I worked on Energy from Waste and gas CHP generators, further expanding my expertise in power generation. More recently, I have led the delivery of over 250 MW of BESS projects in the UK, working with Tesla and TRINA to optimise grid integration. My hands-on experience across the full BESS lifecycle—from design, procurement to installation and commissioning—has given me deep insight into the sector’s evolving challenges and opportunities. • Project management and delivery of the District Heating adoption process from the initiation phase of construction until handover to the Assets team. • Check and scrutinise the quality of the installation to ensure compliance with design documentation and SSE adoption processes. • Leading project meetings, liaise with staff at all levels internally and externally to ensure the project objectives are achieved in terms of safety, budget, quality and time. • Managing sub contractors and produce tender framework for CHP refurbishment work. • Advice on new technologies to reduce CO2 emissions in district heating network.
• Providing technical due diligence function on District Heating energy centres and distributed heat networks. • Advising on the suitability of designs, plant specifications and operating performance of the network. • Advising the Enterprise team on technical development of gas peaking and energy storage projects. • Technical due-diligence on on new technologies within district heating market HIU's, boilers, CHP, heat pumps and water treatment. • Leading the Solutions & Engineering's Technology Forum to research about new R&D technologies.
