1. Assist in Coordinating the development, and build-out of the Tier 3 Data Centre, whilst maintaining the functionality of the existing facility; 2. Manage environmental resources, 100% availability of power distribution systems, Generators, and cooling systems. 3. Implement the energy efficiency measures to reduce cost and improve business performance. 4. Compile and implement emergency response, and maintenance procedures. 5. Supervise the on-site management of sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work is performed according to established practices and procedures. 6. Manage local client relationship and act as the point of contact for the company at this site. 7. Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses and prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility operations and maintenance. 8. Work with other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability and efficiency. 9. Manage critical component & spare parts intake, installation and decommissioning; develop, implement and manage maintenance plan schedules and processes. 10. Maintenance / Reliability management using CMMS for preventative maintenance, PM and predictive maintenance program, planning, scheduling, parts and work order system management; 11. Lead and develop supervisors, and engineers through training and coaching 12. Assist in vendor selections, forge strong vendor relationships, and manage vendor service level agreement performance; 13. Coordinate equipment vendor access for site service calls and supervise vendor on site activities; 24x7 availability as escalation point for data center facility issues 14. Support daily operational troubleshooting and problem solving 15. Manage labor, parts, and facilities contracted services. 16. Provide engineering analysis using procedures that include generation of drawings, engineering design principles, process capabilities, and equipment layouts
1. Monitor and manage Data Centre M&E both on a local and a remote basis, responding to alerts and incidents in a timely manner. 2. Monitor and proactively manage both requests for change and incident/problem tickets within the Data Centre Engineering support works call queue, along with telephone and email requests. 3. Install server racking, equipment and structured wiring as required to support client deployment and on-going operations. 4. Provide a quality, responsive, technical remote hands service to clients, in contractual SLA’s for live clients, in response to inbound requests and in the implementation of solutions for new clients. 5. Work with DC manager to ensure stock levels for racks, consumables, spares, tools etc. are at acceptable levels. 6. Deputize for the Data centre Manager as required from time to time. 7. Provide day-to-day technical direction to the team of Data Centre Engineers in matters relating to the operation of the Data centre. 8. Ensure that the Data Centre Engineers are trained and given adequate direction for all activities required of their job role. 9. Liaise with clients, colleagues, suppliers and other stakeholders in all matters relating to the operation of the Data centre. 10. In the case of a major incident, act as the communications coordinator to ensure that clients are fully briefed on impact, status and resolution progress. 11. Co-ordinate the delivery of new clients and to liaise with the other department on delivery of new client projects.
• Project areas included development and implementation of data center IT infrastructure monitoring solution (zenoss) on Linux (CentOS 6, and related security packages). • Managing Corporate Unix/linux infrastructure, scaling over 30+ SMP servers, VLM servers, database servers, and storage system including 350+TB SAN/NAS storage and tape robotics for backup and archive. • Negotiated contract agreements with resellers, vendors, for various solutions and unix infrastructure support. • Lead the installation of all upgrades, patches and new versions of Oracle Sun Solaris Unix and Linux operating systems and software to ensure the security and performance of systems. • Lead the research of emerging systems and data storage products and services in support of system enhancement and development efforts. Stays future focused and provides strategic direction regarding system and data storage design and best practices. • Develop technical documentation and procedures for the Unix and Linux systems and data storage • Lead the planning, documentation, and execution of Disaster Recovery plans for backup systems and all business critical Unix and Linux systems.
