It is a counseling services company where we provide individual therapy, group therapy, marriage counseling, family counseling and adolescent counseling, and consulting. I am a Psychotherapist for Family Service of Racine. I provide counseling to individuals, couples, families, children, and run psycho-educational groups. I teach the Stress Management and Coping Skills class, Anger Management, Changing Families (divorcing couples with children, co-parenting class), and a Stress Management class at a domestic violence shelter. I really enjoy adding a little piece of my personality to mu classes, that way people don't get bored, I interject humor into my classes, so people "accidentally" learn! I have also just started as the Wellness Consultant for Headstart in Racine, Burlington, and Union Grove. I am working with 3-5 year old children and their parents.
I taught the re-emploment services class for people on unemployment in Racine County. The class was 3 hours long, and I made the Powerpoint presentation. I enjoyed the challenge of meeting people from every walk of life and trying to teach them something that they could use. I enjoyed being able to use my creativity and humor. I was selected to give presentations to area businesses such as Johnson Wax, when I was accepted at the Veterans Administration for my second year Internship, therefore being forced to turn in my resignation to continue my education.
I am currently interning in the Stress Disorder Treatment Unit. I facilitate a trauma group, do psychosocial assessments, assist with brief therapy, and enter data into the computer system.
I worked as the only Case Manager for a not-for-profit organization that housed homeless veterans.
