Adam Possamai FASSA GAICD is Associate Dean Global, Partnerships and Advancement at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts, Business, Education, and Law (SABEL) at Western Sydney University and the International Secretary of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia. His research interest is in the Sociology of Religion. He is the (co)author and (co)editor of more than twenty academic and fiction books, and more than 120 referred articles and book chapters. He is a past President of the International Sociological Association’s Committee 22 on the Sociology of Religion, and currently a council member representing Australasia for the International Society for the Sociology of Religion. His recent sociological publications are 'Muslims in Contemporary Australia' (edited with David Tittensor, Brill, 2025), 'The Sociology of Shari’a: Case Studies from Around the World. 2nd Edition' (edited with James Richardson and Bryan Turner, Springer, 2023), 'Religion and Change in Australia' (with David Tittensor, Routledge, 2022), 'The Sage Encyclopedia of the Sociology of Religion' (edited with Anthony Blasi, Sage, 2020), , 'The Social Scientific Study of Exorcism in Christianity' (edited with with Giuseppe Giordan, Springer, 2020), and 'The I-zation of Society, Religion, and Neoliberal Post-Secularism' (Palgrave McMillan, 2018).He is currently working on a monograph on 'Evil' for Routledge and on 'The Socioloogy of Horror' for Palgrave McMillan. He is also a fiction writer (mainly in French), and his sixth novel has recently been published. Adam Possamaï est né en Belgique et il est titulaire d’un doctorat en sociologie. Il vit désormais en Australie, où il est professeur de sociologie et Doyen associé — International, Partenariats et Développement à Western Sydney University. Il est également écrivain de fantastique. 'Perles Noires' (un recueil de nouvelles fantastiques republié pour la troisième fois en 2021) a été élu coup de cœur 2006 par les bibliothèques de Paris et 'Le XXIème Siècle de Dickerson et Ferra' (republié en 2022 sous le nouveau titre d’ ‘Amarama’), coup de cœur par la Maison d’Ailleurs en 2012. Rivière Blanche a publié 'L'histoire extraordinaire de Baudelaire' en 2017 et les deux tomes de la série ‘Les possédés de la Renaissance’, 'Le Crépuscule de Torquemada. Tome 1’ en 2015 et 'La réflexion de Borgia. Tome 2' en 2018. Son dernier roman fantastique, ‘L’énigme’ vient juste de sortir chez le même éditeur. Il travaille pour le moment à de nouvelles perles noires.
