After graduating in 1999 with a BA (Hons) in contemporary art from Dartington College of Art (UK), I moved to London and worked as a bartender at The Peasant, The Almeida Theater, and as an assistant manager at a wine shop spending most of my spare time looking at art exhibitions. In 2002 I moved to New York City where I worked as a free-lance art critic from 2003-2011 publishing short-form reviews, essays, market reports, interviews, profiles, and various other formats to strict deadlines for notable print publications including Frieze Magazine, Time Out NY, Art Review, Art Monthly, Spike Art Quarterly, Contemporary Magazine, NyArts, Saatchi Online, Whitewall, Flash Art as well as others. This opportunity provided me with a foundational understanding of the unique dynamics of the primary contemporary art market and was a 24/7 all-access immersion into a historically significant decade of the post-9/11 art world. Formed and maintained relationships with artists, editors, gallerists, scholars, and business professionals both domestic and internationally. In 2011 I relocated to Arizona and worked as a line production laborer at the Solana Solar Power Generating station in Gila Bend, AZ where I was promoted to 1 of 2 specialized work stations out of a 100+ person shift crew. In 2013, I enrolled in the Welding Technology program at Central Arizona College graduating in 2015 phi theta Kappa, deans list, honors list. Following that I worked for Southwest Metalsmiths as a helper/installer and eventually lead. Assisted with the successful completion of multiple commercial construction projects across the Phoenix Metropolitan area. In 2017 I worked for Magnum Companies as a helper/installer/welder/fabricator and eventually foreman. Assisted with the completion of many notable, high-value commercial projects across the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Completed welding certifications, OSHA certifications, forklift/boom lift training, and various related certifications and gained a foundational understanding of shop/engineering/architectural drawings as well as city codes. Most recently I worked as an artisan in the metal fabrication shop at Bollinger Attelier where I assisted in the production of bronze and other metal sculptures for acclaimed domestic as well as international artists.
