My experience as a Legal Assistant in Customs Law and GIT Governmental Procedures at the National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN) was instrumental in developing my competencies in customs, foreign exchange, and administrative law. During my time at the agency, I had the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of key legal tasks that contributed to the handling and resolution of customs, tax, and administrative cases. My main responsibility was the drafting and reviewing of responses to lawsuits filed by customs and foreign exchange users, as well as preparing responses to administrative appeals and requests for direct revocation, ensuring compliance with current regulations and best legal practices. I was also responsible for preparing and presenting draft resolutions in governmental procedures, supporting decision-making within the framework of customs and foreign exchange legislation. Additionally, I actively participated in the analysis and management of administrative processes related to customs claims and tax disputes, which allowed me to develop a solid understanding of the administrative process before DIAN and the importance of ensuring the correct application of the law. Thanks to this experience, I acquired in-depth knowledge of the legal and administrative procedures governing customs activities, and refined my skills in legal drafting, legal analysis, and governmental procedure management, enabling me to contribute effectively to the agency's objectives.
Doing my internship at the Corporación Autónoma Regional del Atlántico (CRA) has been an enriching experience both professionally and personally. The highly collaborative work environment provided me with the opportunity to deepen my understanding of the CRA's efforts in environmental management and protection, as well as the renewal, conservation, and sustainability of natural resources in the region. I had the opportunity to work closely with the entity's legal department, where I was responsible for key tasks such as drafting and reviewing legal documents related to environmental compliance. Additionally, I actively participated in analyzing administrative processes and legal procedures related to environmental permits, sanctions, and licenses, which allowed me to gain a thorough understanding of the regulations and laws applied in environmental management. My learning was guided by a team of dedicated professionals, whose effort, commitment, and discipline enabled me to develop a solid understanding of environmental legislation, and inspired me to continue promoting conservation and respect for the environment throughout my professional career.
During my internship at the Mayor's Office, I took on important responsibilities that allowed me to demonstrate my work ethic and confidence in key tasks, such as responding to tutelas, rights of petition, drafting powers of attorney, handling requests for extensions, and collaborating closely with the Internal Control Management Office. I was an essential support in the decongestion of administrative processes, ensuring that responses were provided within the stipulated time frame and with the required quality. I had the opportunity to deepen my understanding of legal requirements and the correct drafting of service contracts, performing a detailed review and thorough verification of these contracts, as well as resolutions issued by the Mayor. This process was supervised by an external advisor, which allowed me to enhance my legal knowledge and skills. Additionally, I efficiently managed processes related to property records and the review of sales contracts, working directly with the relevant entities to resolve any issues in a timely and effective manner.
