To become a Scientist who will help in alleviating poverty through the management of arthropod pests and utilisation of beneficial insects. My research is focused on understanding the behaviour and chemical communication in insects with the aim of using these to develop effective management and or monitoring measures which are eco-friendly. Specialities: Insect behaviour, Chemical ecology, analytical chemistry, environmental analysis, edible insects and general ecology
Development and application of analytical methods for the determination of insect and plant semiochemicals. Conducting behavioural bioassays to assess the roles of pheromones. Teaching Biostatistics, Ecology, and Olfactory communication. Supervision of Postgraduate students and overseeing the day to day running of an Analytical Chemistry facility.
Working on understanding the behaviour and chemical ecology of Social Insects. In particular honeybees and ants.
Studied the Behaviour and Chemical Ecology of the African termite raiding ant Pachycondyla analis
