  • Physiotherapy Intern at Burjeel Hospital
    Jul 2024 - Jul 2024 · 1 mo

Observing physiotherapists at Burjeel Hospital, I saw them carefully review medical reports, including X-ray and MRI images, to inform their clinical decisions. They conducted thorough history-taking sessions to understand patients' backgrounds and symptoms, followed by detailed objective assessments to evaluate physical function. Treatment planning was highly individualised, incorporating these assessments and diagnostic findings. I also observed physiotherapists working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, tailoring their approach to the different needs and environments. Additionally, I spent time in the gym, observing rehabilitation for injuries such as ACL tears and chondromalacia patella, witnessing the integration of specific exercises to aid recovery.

  • Physiotherapy Intern at NHS England
    Jun 2024 - Jun 2024 · 1 mo

Observing the NHS's physiotherapy services, I learnt about the importance of patient-centered care, where treatment plans are tailored to individual needs and progress. I saw how physiotherapists employ a variety of techniques, such as manual therapy, exercise prescription, and electrotherapy, to manage and rehabilitate musculoskeletal conditions. Additionally, I observed specific movement tests used to diagnose conditions accurately, where physiotherapists assessed joint range of motion, muscle strength, and functional movement patterns. I also witnessed the administration of steroid injections to reduce inflammation and pain, often as part of a comprehensive treatment plan to expedite recovery and improve patient outcomes.
