I am a Safety Engineer with an interest in Sustainability and Environmental Engineering. I have a history of work experience in the engineering industry, and I am currently a Safety Engineer at Babcock. I have experience in developing Safety and Environmental cases, following the requirements and guidance provided in Def-Stan 00-56 and POEMS.
Part of the Defence Equipment & Support rotational graduate scheme within the Air domain, with my first placement taking on an Engineering role and my second placement taking on a Safety role.
I worked within the Defence and Space Team, and the Sustainability Team as a Research Engineer.
This role followed on from my role as a Student Representative last year. I enjoyed this role and felt that I could give more input and time, using the connections I have made in my time as a Student Representative. As the Lead Department Rep I was in the senior branch of the representation system. I worked closely with the senior staff team, the Students' Union and the fellow Department Reps, to ensure that students' voices are heard loud and clear. In this role I was tasked with providing critical feedback in meetings on the extent to which the student voice is represented, thus allowing the Students’ Union to monitor best practice and track engagement across the university governance structure. In this role I was shortlisted for the teamwork and the leadership award for the student experience awards, going on to win the leadership award.
As a student rep I was the vital link between the University, the Students Union and the Student body. This role involved gathering and communicating the views of fellow students.
