I am a consulting geologist contracted to Central Plateau Cleanup Company where I am the Technical Lead for the Department of Energy’s Hanford Site 100-KR-4 groundwater operable unit (OU), a Project Scientist for the 300-FF-5 groundwater OU, and the subject matter expert (SME) for the 100K groundwater pump and treat systems for the Groundwater Remediation and Regulatory Strategy Department. Treatment technology experience: deep vadose zone soil flushing, groundwater pump and treat, uranium sequestration, monitored natural attenuation CERCLA documentation experience: Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Studies, Proposed Plans, Remedial Decision/Remedial Action Work Plans, Sampling and Analysis Plans, data quality objective (DQO) planning, annual pump and treat reports RCRA groundwater documentation experience: RCRA permit change notifications, groundwater monitoring plans, groundwater first determination reports, groundwater quarterly assessments, ongoing determination reports, senior reviewing statistical evaluations (e.g., Mann-Kendall, Tobit, UCL/LCL), environmental calculation files
I was a senior geologist with the CERCLA Regulatory Document Delivery and the RCRA Groundwater Compliance Monitoring Groups within the Department of Regulatory Strategy & Integration. I am the Technical Lead for Hanford Site 300 Area groundwater monitoring, which consists of the former 300 Area Industrial Complex and the 618-10 and 618-11 Burial Grounds. I am also a Lead Author for RCRA groundwater compliance reporting, including RCRA quarterly reports, first determination reports, groundwater quality assessments, and ongoing determination reports. Other responsibilities I have include processing and evaluating data for water level and geochemical monitoring, working with subcontractors performing statistical analyses or other quantitative evaluation of data, and senior reviewing environmental calculation files. In my duties, I ensure consistent engagement with stakeholders, including tribal communities, the public, regulators, and the Department of Energy. I also provide support to the RCRA Operating Permits group as the Interim Project Lead for the Integrated Disposal Facility RCRA permit development.
I was a scientist in the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Operating Permits Group and in the RCRA Groundwater Compliance Group in the Department of Regulatory Strategy & Integration working for the United States Department of Energy at the Hanford Site, central WA. I was the Technical Lead for all RCRA research and permitting activities for the Integrated Disposal Facility (IDF), a low-level burial ground, to support Hanford’s Direct-Feed Low Activity Waste mission. I was responsible for ensuring consistent progress in developing IDF RCRA permits and permit modifications, preparing documents for and working through the appeals process, reporting updates with various company organizations including Waste Projects & Operations, Environmental, and Regulatory Strategy & Integration, hosting and leading meetings for Hanford contractors, the Department of Energy, and the Washington Department of Ecology, and co-hosting/facilitating site visits. I was also responsible for reviewing and analyzing RCRA groundwater monitoring well data to author first determination reports about potential contaminant identification and migration, RCRA quarterly groundwater monitoring reports, as well as processing statistical data for environmental calculation files. Additionally, I provided permitting support to other Hanford facilities in the Solid Waste Operations Complex.
