I am an experienced manager leading teams of engineers and quality staff to deliver (and improve) products to market as promised within budget. Experienced at leading teams to introduce new products, platforms, technology and processes to create cost effective and reliable product delivery. Confident in delivering results and have implemented many successful projects using lean and other manufacturing philosophies. Decisive and pragmatic in making trade off decisions when problem solving. Past projects include: - Warehouse and inventory design, set up and maintenance successfully halving cost and inventory levels - Surface Mount Technology (SMT) performance improvement significant improving throughput in a high mix low volume environment. - Introducing and maintaining critical compliances, including intrinsically safe product and ISO9004 to name a couple. Specialties: - Managing teams - End to end Quality Control and Improvement - Health and Safety (using a risk based model) - New Product Introduction - Capacity Planning - Surface Mount Technology, process flow and performance improvement - Industry 4.0 using data and automation to increase overall performance - Lean materials handling - Process improvement in a production and support environment - Implementing change - Root cause analysis and Lean thinking
The Primary purpose of this role is to drive production quality performance. Ensure that suppliers provide components and materials to the required standards. Identify improvement initiatives with commercial and purchasing teams, and in some cases direct with supply partners. Drive quality by looking at production activities, targeting the elimination of faults and defects. By monitoring production quality yields, component waste, product repair and other KPIs. Identify improvement initiatives and work with production and engineering teams to design, implement and monitor continuous change. Design and implement a supplier quality program that ensures; • suppliers are compliant with all relevant global standards and that • incoming component quality is managed to ensure components meet specification • deviations from these standards/specifications are identified rapidly and that they are reported and resolved urgently and putting in place corrective actions with suppliers • risks, including commercial, Health & Safety or otherwise, associated with materials and component supplies are identified, profiled and that mitigations for their management are implemented as required Design and implement a production quality program that ensures; • KPI for quality yield, component waste, product repair and others are monitored and reported • initiatives are implemented to eliminate faults and defects • that best practice tools and techniques are applied to these initiatives and that • the cost of quality is measured and initiatives are put in place to drive the cost of quality to zero Design and implement a production efficiency program that ensures production teams are reducing the cost of labour and machine costs in Bills of Materials ongoing. Design, develop and implement Knowledge creation, retention, and re-use to ensure that appropriate knowledge is created, retained and reused in order to, avoid reinventing the wheel, repeated errors and to minimise cost and effort.
Production management in a 24 hour high mix environment producing electronic assemblies from PCB to multi product systems. Key responsibilities: Managing 120 - 160 staff Delivery In Full On Time In Spec (within budget) Product quality Health and safety Continuous improvement activity Staff, process and equipment development Experience: Following lean manufacturing principles and up-to-date knowledge of current manufacturing technologies Planning efficient production processes to assure optimal use of available capacity Identification and implementation of new manufacturing capabilities Awareness of occupational hazards and effective risk assessment and controls implemented Train, supervise and motivate employees to improve quality and control costs Contribution to plan and manage annual and monthly budgets Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel
The primary role completed was implementing a lean transformation for materials handling within Tait. In addition production support and improvement for several process lines as well as new product introduction. Significant contribution to the development of make to order job flow software.
