I am an experienced academic leader, senior manager, educator and mentor. I am also a firm believer in diversity, equity and inclusion. I have a passion for building “big research machines” and using them to understand how the world around us works. These accelerator-based large-scale research infrastructures, which we develop, build and operate at the Paul Scherrer Institute, have an important role in tackling current and future scientific, technological and societal challenges. For example, we use them to gain insights in how the universe was created, reveal the inner workings of the quantum world, to understand, improve and design advanced functional materials, and to make sure that the breaks in your car work optimally or that the next Arianne rocket takes off effortlessly. I love that working in the international community of large-scale research infrastructures provides me with endless opportunities to learn from and collaborate with the most amazing people with diverse backgrounds in terms of expertise, knowledge and training but also regarding culture, background, ethnicity, and gender.
