There is magic in every beginning. This is what I experienced, when I met my co-founders Tobias Bonwetsch and Nico Ros. Before cofounding Rematter together with them, I became a carpenter, studied Philosophy, Politics, Economics as well as Business Development and gathered multi-million startup investment experience as a senior sustainable investment manager. People used to scratch their heads when I told them all the things I did. I wanted to live interdisciplinarity and unite the things that seemed important to me. Looking back, I can see how the dots are connecting. Now I can contribute my expertise in wood, circularity and finance which perfectly complements the skills in the founding team. At Rematter, we combine low-tech natural materials like earth and timber with high-tech manufacturing to create 100% circular, low-carbon and equitable buildings. Three main reasons lead to my decision to start this company. First, life on our planet is at stake. Construction accounts for 50% of resource consumption and 37% of CO2 emissions. We have to roll up our sleeves and change that. Second, I want to demonstrate that there is no reason to believe that our biggest problems can’t be solved. Third, founding is fun :)
