I graduated from the University of Mainz, Germany, in 2007 and defended by medical doctor thesis (MD, summa cum laude). I joined the world-renowned translational cardiovascular research institute (CARIM) in Maastricht, The Netherlands, and obtained my PhD in 2013. After completing a Cardiology training at the University Hospital in Homburg/Saar, Germany, I achieved the Habilitation (venia legendi) in 2017. In 2017, I have been recruited as Associate Professor and clinical EP-fellow to Adelaide, Australia, to initiate and drive a translational research program focusing on atrial fibrillation at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and University of Adelaide (Centre for Heart Rhythm Disorders, Prof Sanders). Since 2019, I am working as a Cardiologist at the Maastricht University Medical Center, where I am heading the clinical EP group. I am Professor at the University of Maastricht and Professor at the University of Copenhagen. To date, I have co-authored more than 400 peer-reviewed publications.
