What really matters in life? As I continuously reflect on my career journey across various countries and cultures, the issue of injustice and my own positive impact consistently weigh on my mind. I had amazing career opportunities and support over the years, yet I always felt an entrepreneurial urge in me. My experience in Saudi Arabia ultimately was the final realisation how much more important values and equality are to me compared to financial gain and status. During a subsequent professional break, I took the time to reflect on my purpose and how I could use my corporate skills to make a more meaningful impact in the world. While I can't say that sustainability has always been my passion, I can confidently say that senken presents the perfect opportunity to combine my values, purpose, and high-performing mindset to create change and make a difference. At senken, I am able to pursue my passion and provide everyone with a personalised roadmap to becoming the next green entrepreneur. To enable this, it is essential to nurture individual strengths and diversity. I, too, faced challenges in this area, but I was fortunate to have met individuals who took me under their wing and taught me valuable lessons. After 18 years of retail career with incredible teams, colleagues and TJX Europe as a cultural role model for the majority of my career it was time to pause, reflect and value the journey that I had the luck to be on. I only started to realise how much positive impact this career break can lead to while I was already in it. I had lots of doubt taking a break from something that I worked so hard for and I actually loved. Not to forget that it seemed irrational to stop something that you've always been taught is good and should be at the center of life and ambition. 9 months and incredible learnings and experiences later I can only recommend it to anyone who ever remotely considered it: -be brave -you might find out what's actually important to you just by allowing yourself the time -it might hurt a little, but only for the right reasons -you will learn unexpected things about yourself -you will realise how many other things you're good at as well - take the time to reflect deeply and challenge yourself fair and square And then rise and shine !
