Operating under the umbrella of UTMB's Office of Legal & Regulatory Affairs, the Department of Internal Investigations reviews matters that implicate possible violations of law or institutional policy. These violations include allegations of unlawful discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation in violation of Title IX, Title VII, ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the ADEA made by faculty, staff, administrators, students, and third parties. Additionally, The Department of Internal Investigation houses the Institution's Title IX Office which focuses on training, educating, and promoting awareness of the prohibition of sex based discrimination across the university.

Write legal briefs for clients on behalf of their unlawful presence in the United States; persuasively evaluate hardship by weighing adversities and equities for each client in regards to emotional, physical, and financial hardships; interview and prepare written affidavits for client and qualifying relative to be submitted with unlawful presence waiver.
Observed small claims court mediations dealing with no-insurance claims, landlord/tenant disputes, and minor personal injury cases. Serve as co-mediator on commercial lease disputes, Better Business Bureau cases, and EEOC discrimination suits. Contact parties to mediation. Maintain legal files for electronic records of mediation cases. Daily operations of the mediation clinic.
Serve as legal writing professor's assistant in developing the legal writing skills of first year law students. Particular focus on providing feedback in relation to grammar, structure, and case development in Legal Memorandums, Client Letters, and Motions for Summary Judgments. Provide weekly office hours for 1L students.
