Experience

  • Managing Director and Copy Writer at Roaring Fork.

I work in collaboration with designer and artist Ken Griffen on RF. RF is characterized by idea led visuals that are individually crafted for our clients. The work is driven by a belief in collaboration, strong communication and unique outcomes. It’s an independent design hub specializing in creative direction, typographic branding, editorial and digital content design. My role at RF. involves copy writing, creative production, client management, workflow management and new business.

  • Founder / Creative Director / Curator at Paper pirates

The Paper Pirates curate photography exhibitions throughout New Zealand and the world. The concept is simple. SHOOT. PRINT. SEND. STEAL. We ask for contributions from our internet audience who then send us A3 prints of their photos. We collect these and plaster them up around a gallery space for a one night show in any given city. Drinks and music are provided until an arbitrary moment when the two pirate dictators encourage the guests to steal all of the prints to take home forever. Paper Pirates makes art and photography more accessible, tangible and enjoyable. So far exhibitions have taken place in Auckland, Tokyo and NYC β€” with more international cities in the cross hairs

  • Photographer at joeashleydowling.com

I have been working as a professional photographer for a number of years. This involved a vast array of work, primarily in fashion and documentary and includes shooting and editing video.

  • Account Manager at Gus

Working closely with the Creative Director I was responsible for client interactions, campaign planning, media booking, taking and giving design briefs (and critiques), managing studio work-flow, monthly invoicing and general studio maintenance.

  • Founder / Creative Director at Gus

Some friends and I started a clothing company in which we designed and produced our own menswear label for five years. See www.gus.co.nz for our latest and final collection. While we collectively oversaw all aspects of the business, my primary roles were Creative Director, Brand Manager and Sales & Marketing.

  • Head of the English Department at British International Schools of Kurdistan

I was the Head of the English Department at a private high school in Northern Iraq. The school operated under the Cambridge International Examinations framework. As head of English, I was responsible for overseeing the curriculum and managing all teachers in my department β€” as well as reporting to the Senior Management Team. I also taught iGCSE English to Grades 10 & 11 with 25 teaching hours per week.
