I am an international business leader with a 25+ year background in the maritime/logistics industry from the A.P.Moller-Maersk Group, especially within the container shipping industry. I have extensive executive management skills and experience, based on Commercial and Operations roles in global and emerging markets, including 10 years on expatriate assignments in Asia and Africa. I have led and been part of multinational teams for 20+ years giving broad cultural and business insight. Over the years, my competitive nature and constant urge to succeed has produced a strong track record of business results and performance. I'm told by others that my key personal strengths include an ability to very quickly grasp situational contexts, connecting the dots, bringing simplicity to complex problems, separating what’s important from what’s not. This pragmatic approach, focusing attention on key select items, and my ability to “bring people together” around an agenda is supported by a leadership style balanced between high levels of delegation/autonomy, and deep involvement, support and sparring when relevant. My approach has helped me externally, e.g. when setting up/managing complex J/V’s with industry partners and customers, or dealing with senior Government stakeholders, as well as internally in creating a reputation for consistently identifying and attracting talent and creating high-performing teams. I like challenges, I thrive in adversity when there are problems to be solved requiring unorthodox solutions or just hard work and persistence! I have been exposed to both deep crisis as well as steep growth agendas, and while the tools required to solve each of these are not always the same, the fundamental skills behind are often. I focus on results, now and in future, and I direct the resources and discussions towards the few actions and initiatives which yield the biggest impact on results.
