While at NASA, I was a federal law enforcement officer with the Office of Inspector General, Computer Crimes Division, stationed at the Goddard Space Flight Center. I investigated federal crimes with a NASA nexus, to include computer intrusions, malware infections, and child pornography possession and distribution by NASA employees or contractors. I was engaged in numerous high-profile, complex, and dynamic international computer crime investigations. I was the lead agent on a number of cases being run jointly with other law enforcement agencies, in the United States and abroad. Case successes include arrests and convictions in the United States, Nigeria, Australia, France, Romania, Estonia, South Africa and China.
While at the UC Davis Data Center, I designed and/or developed a number of security- and infrastructure-related projects. Examples of projects I participated in (both as a team and singularly) include a Data Center monitoring system, a campus-wide IDS, an anti-spam in-house Real Time Blacklist, and a campus-wide vulnerability scanning system. I also conducted forensic investigations as part of the Incident Response Team.
