I work on complex technical projects where the solution is not obvious, technically or commercially. My background is in major bridge projects, including cable-stayed and long-span structures, but my role has increasingly expanded into project leadership, business development and improving how technical consulting work is delivered. I have led work from early opportunity shaping and teaming through tendering, design development and execution-phase support. I work closely with clients, contractors and international teams, with a strong focus on buildability, commercial robustness and taking responsibility beyond the design office. In addition to project delivery, I am responsible for shaping the AI and digitalization strategy within Ramboll’s Major Projects Spearhead. My focus is on practical development: automation, structured project data, computational design, AI-enabled methods and scalable workflows that improve quality, productivity and decision-making in complex technical consulting. Currently focused on expanding Ramboll’s major bridges presence in the North American market.
I lead Ramboll’s major bridges work, focusing on complex and high-profile bridge projects from early concept through to construction. My role spans business development, client engagement and project delivery. I am involved from the earliest stages — shaping opportunities and leading pursuits — through concept development, design and into construction. I lead international teams of approximately 50 people across the UK, Denmark and Finland, working in a highly collaborative setup to support the pursuit and delivery of major bridge projects. I work closely with clients and contractors to develop solutions that are not only technically sound, but buildable and robust. I believe in taking responsibility beyond the design office and staying involved when challenges arise on site. My background is in structural engineering, which I bring into a broader role bridging engineering, commercial and delivery perspectives. I have experience in cable-stayed and long-span bridges, advanced analysis and concept development, and have contributed to multiple competition-winning bridge concepts. Currently focused on expanding Ramboll’s major bridges presence in the North American market. I am responsible for the AI and digitalization strategy within Ramboll’s Major Projects Spearhead, focusing on how automation, structured data, computational design and AI can improve delivery performance across complex projects. This work connects business development, project delivery, engineering methods and digital development, with the aim of turning new technology into practical improvements for live project work.
As Technical Director and Digitalization Lead, Major Projects, I worked in a combined project leadership and development role. I acted as Project Director and Technical Lead on highly demanding major bridge projects, including Ölfusárbrú in Iceland, with responsibility across the project lifecycle — from early opportunity shaping and teaming, through tender and design development, all the way into execution and construction-phase support. This project delivery background also formed the basis for my digitalization work. Rather than treating digitalization as a separate support function, my focus was on improving how major projects are actually won and delivered: better workflows, structured project data, automation, computational design, AI-enabled methods and more scalable ways of working across international teams. Key focus areas included: - leading complex major bridge projects from early development and tendering through execution - acting as Project Director and Technical Lead in technically demanding project environments - developing practical digital tools and workflows to improve design efficiency, quality and delivery certainty - supporting adoption of automation, computational design and structured project data in live projects - connecting engineering, project management, commercial thinking and digital development into usable delivery methods - identifying where AI and data-driven methods can create measurable value in project delivery and technical consulting productivity
Built and led the Finnish Major Crossings unit, developing it from a small starting point into a strong specialist team capable of winning and delivering complex bridge and infrastructure projects. Responsible for business development, client engagement, commercial negotiations, recruitment, competence development, digital development, project delivery and team performance. Led the acquisition and delivery of major bridge assignments, including Kruunuvuori Bridge: client discussions, tendering, pricing, team setup, project leadership and technical leadership through design and execution support. Kruunuvuori Bridge became a flagship project for digital delivery, BIM, automation and computational design. The project achieved approximately 90% drawing automation and won Trimble’s global BIM awards for Best Project and Best Infrastructure Project. This experience gave me a practical understanding of how to build technical consulting capability: the people, tools, workflows, digital methods, commercial discipline and leadership structures needed to win work and deliver it profitably.
Led bridge design assignments with responsibility for project coordination, client communication, technical quality and delivery. Worked closely with engineering teams, clients and stakeholders to deliver practical and buildable bridge solutions within agreed scope, schedule and quality requirements.
Led the bridges business area with responsibility for project delivery, client relationships, resourcing, business development and commercial performance. Combined hands-on technical leadership with people management, project management and business development responsibilities in a specialist bridge engineering environment.
Progressed from bridge engineer to project manager, developing a strong technical foundation in bridge design, structural analysis, project delivery and client work. Worked on a broad range of bridge and infrastructure projects, building experience in design coordination, technical problem-solving, stakeholder communication and practical project execution.
