Steven Young, Board Member at Çalık Holding, started his professional career as a Special Projects Engineer with the German multinational Mannesmann Demag in Sydney Australia in 1988 at the age of 24, upon completing his engineering degree at the University of Wollongong. At the age of 30, he was appointed as Managing Director of Mannesmann Rexroth, Turkey. During his 25 years tenure in Turkey, Steven Young has lead four multinationals incorporating turn arounds, re-structuring business models, post merger integration, foreign direct investments, new markets and accelerated growth strategies with a focus on balancing change and values. In his final position as President of Bosch Turkey and Middle East, he managed 18 countries in Bosch Group. Responsible for the Bosch Group in Turkey and Middle East. Driving the formation of the new enlarged region (17 countries) with emphasis on regional growth, synergy utilization and comprehensive stakeholder management.
Spokesman and responsible for representing the Bosch Group in Turkey. Established country business competence center including all functions such as HR, IT, purchasing, legal, etc for the complete group. During his 3,5 years tenure, the Group invested 484 mio €, exported 3.9 bn € and sales came to 1.7 bn € from 1.3 bn €.
He was appointed as MD of Bosch Rexroth Otomasyon Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. to manage the merger and integration of Mannesmann Rexroth to Bosch in 2001 and succeeded to complete the implementation process first in the world. In his 10 years as MD, three strategic investments were realized in Turkey of which in 2005 1st Bosch Rexroth plant in the country was opened in Bursa to start up hydraulic component production. Turnover of the company grew from an actual 15 mio € to a capacity of 200 mio € plus 2000 associates in this period.
Turn around achieved within the first year by restructuring the existing business model and revamping all operations that yielded profitability, increased market share and sustainable growth.
