Initially appointed in 2010 as Process Supervisor with responsibility for safe and effective treatment of Hazardous waste. Promoted in 2011 to lead the business as the Business Unit Manager with P&L accountability, delivering consistently profitable operations, whilst navigating legislative changes with the introduction of the Carbon Tax & landfill levies and simultaneously improving the business balance sheet through the reduction of legacy hazardous-waste stockpiles. Led from the front on Safety, personally taking charge and directing the highest-risk treatment operations and remaining on-call 24/7 throughout my tenure for any chemical incident. Supported by a proactive and energetic site leadership group, I & my team undertook a significant business improvement program over 2yrs which: 1) Eliminated unbudgeted legacy Hazardous waste stockpiles 2) Decreased treatment times & hence holding times for High-Hazard wastes. 3) Reduced Raw Material consumption & subsequent reduction of landfill volumes. 4) Developed a risk-control model that allowed for more rapid treatment of high-hazard wastes & normalised the management foreseeable chemistry incidents. 5) Reduced stockpile densities, allowing better segregation, more effective stocktaking and condition inspection. ...delivering a leaner, more sustainable and above all safer business.
