The Best in Heritage is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting every aspect of professional excellence in heritage occupations and doing it "by the power of example” through an annual, global conference. Our vision is to remain world's unique event showcasing best achievements in the heritage sector. Our mission is to select and present examples of the best and most successful practices in museums, heritage and conservation, and use their power as change-makers in spreading quality and excellence in public memory domain, contributing thus to creating a powerful profession and better societal use of heritage. We promote public value of heritage community, their art of communication and efficiency in social development. Our central value is public good and our method, - inspiration. The Best in Heritage conference is an annual event on which award-winning museum, heritage and conservation projects are featured. Representatives of over forty laureates elaborate on their achievements, which have been recognised by professional juries over the past year for their outstanding quality. Aim is to promote these exceptional projects which demonstrate innovation and excellence concerning the care and communication of heritage. We collect information on all awarded projects from the past year and make it available on this website. From the list The Best in Heritage Advisory board makes a selection of projects to be invited to take part in the event. The aim is to have a diverse and interesting programme offering an insight into innovative practices, successful management approaches, extraordinary professionalism and into present day trends and tendencies. The 24th edition will be held in Barcelona from 22 to 24 October 2025. The conference is organised in partnership with La Caixa Foundation, the Government of Catalonia, and The City Council of Barcelona, and under the patronage of EUROPA NOSTRA and ICOM.
