Ashot Iskandarian has always loved cars and, before fatherhood, spent his free time working on his 1965 Impala. Once his daughter was born, he had to rely on independent auto shops to service his cars. He quickly learned that the systems shop owners used to run their businesses were clunky and outdated, the auto industry was underserved. Combining his Silicon Valley software experience and his passion for motorsports, Ashot knew he could empower auto shops, and set out to build Shopmonkey. Ashot and his wife, Annie, founded Maintenance for Moms — a non-profit dedicated to helping single mothers with car maintenance and repairs by raising money and donating vehicles to help get them back on their feet, and back on the road.
