Hi, my name is Shannon and I live with my wife and kids in the Port Adelaide area. I started Port Adelaide Counselling Service after seeing an increased need for counselling services in the area. Since graduating with a degree in Social Work in 2008 I have worked as a counsellor in hospitals, disability services, prisons, schools, palliative care, and private practice. I have also worked with separated families as a mediator with the attorney general’s department. I take a client-centred approach. Which means I meet you where you are and use only what works for you. I’m trained to use a wide range of therapy models, so whatever is most helpful to you is what we use. Common counselling approaches I might use include: - ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) - Narrative Therapy - IPT (Interpersonal Psychotherapy) - CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) - Solution-Focused Brief Therapy - The Gottman Institute Couples Therapy - Worden’s Four Tasks of Mourning – Grief Counselling - Trauma Counselling If you have any questions at all about me or the Port Adelaide Counselling Service please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
