Nike, Inc. is an American multinational corporation that designs, develops, manufactures, and markets clothes, footwear, accessories, equipment, and services around the world. The company's global headquarters are in the Portland metropolitan area, near Beaverton, Oregon (USA). It is a prominent sports equipment manufacturer and one of the top suppliers of athletic shoes and gear in the world. Over the course of its history, Nike has bought several apparel and footwear firms, some of which have since been sold. Nike began selling some of its businesses in the 2000s to refocus on its main business lines. Nike has owned two important subsidiaries since 2013, Hurley International and Converse, Inc.
