Providing the public with law enforcement and detention services. This department manages the city jail and includes the deputy city marshals, who provide public safety at city parks and facilities, as well as Animal Protection Services. The city jail is accredited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. The deputy city marshals service an area of 140 square miles and more than 130 city facilities, parks and trails. In addition, in September 2023, a new substation opened at 420 E. Fremont St., Suite 150. The substation is jointly operated by the Department of Public Safety, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Fremont Street Experience security.
